A new cable line will be built in the Yaroslavl district for the Shchedrino settlement. This was reported by the regional branch of the People«s Front (All-Russian People»s Front). According to activists, they received numerous complaints from local residents after an emergency power outage over the past weekend.

«In 20-degree frost (-4°F), residents of 19 apartment buildings sat for hours without light and heat. Outages, according to people, occur regularly,» said the People«s Front.

Activists organized a meeting of the local community with the management of Yarenergo (Yaroslavl Regional Energy Company). Company representatives explained how they plan to solve the problem.

«Power engineers reported: as an operational measure, they redistributed the load between existing lines. The main solution is to build a new 800-meter 10-kilovolt line by October 1 and install a remotely controlled automatic switch. It is expected that this will reduce the number of accidents and the time for their elimination,» said the People«s Front.

Recall that on January 24, several settlements near Yaroslavl were left without electricity. District head Alexei Mikhailov said that the cause was a technological failure on 10kV equipment. Some consumers were switched to backup schemes, and the Shchedrino settlement was connected to a 400 kW backup power source. By 12:15 MSK, Yarenergo reported that 95% of residents of Shchedrino and adjacent settlements had been connected via backup power supply schemes. To connect the remaining ones, another backup source was sent.

According to the district head, the problem was fully resolved by 18:15 MSK. Later, due to the electricity problems in the Shchedrino settlement, a criminal case was initiated under Part 1 of Article 238 of the Russian Criminal Code (provision of services that do not meet safety requirements for the life and health of consumers). The investigation is supervised by the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin.
