New cable line to be built in Yaroslavl District by October

Planned construction of a cable line in the Shchedrino settlement within the Yaroslavl District.
A new cable line is planned for construction in the Yaroslavl District to ensure a reliable power supply for the Shchedrino settlement. This announcement came from activists of the regional branch of the «People»s Front« (National Front), who received numerous complaints from residents following an emergency outage over the weekend.
«In -20°C (-4°F) frost, residents of 19 apartment buildings were left without light and heat for hours. According to locals, outages occur regularly,» the «People»s Front« reported.
The organization held a public meeting with the management of «Yarenergo» (Yaroslavl Energy Company). Representatives of the energy company explained the measures to be taken. «The energy workers reported that as an immediate measure, they have redistributed the load between existing lines. The main solution, however, is to build a new 800-meter (about 2,625 ft), 10-kilovolt line and install a remotely controlled circuit breaker by October 1. It is expected that this will reduce the number of accidents and the time needed to fix them,» the activists said.
It should be recalled that on January 24, several settlements near Yaroslavl were left without electricity due to a technical failure on 10kV equipment. District Head Alexey Mikhailov noted that some consumers were switched to backup circuits, and the Shchedrino settlement was connected to a 400 kW backup power source. By 12:15, 95% of the settlement«s residents and those in adjacent areas were provided with electricity via backup schemes. An additional backup source was sent for the rest.
The problem was fully resolved by 18:15. In connection with the incident, a criminal case was initiated under Part 1 of Article 238 of the Russian Criminal Code (provision of services that do not meet safety requirements for the life and health of consumers). The investigation is being supervised by the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin.
