Negligence in garbage removal near Semenov angers governor

Over the past weekend, a video surfaced on social media, filmed on the highway near Semenov. The footage shows waste flying out of an overloaded garbage truck while it was moving.

The incident came to the attention of Gleb Nikitin, governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region. He expressed his stance on a Telegram channel, describing what happened as negligence.

The cause of the incident was exceeding the permissible load of garbage. As a result, waste began to spill out while moving, being scattered by the wind and hitting the windshields of cars following the vehicle.

Gleb Nikitin stated: «Negligence that leads to filth on our roads... The main principle here is unshakable: the culprit cleans up after themselves. The regional operator has restored the area to proper condition, is taking measures to prevent such incidents from recurring. Every case will be stopped, and the consequences will entirely fall on the shoulders of the violators.»

Earlier, during the New Year holidays, the region already faced issues with garbage removal. Abnormal snowfalls and resulting snowdrifts prevented vehicles from accessing container sites, causing waste to accumulate for several days.
