Murmansk residents queue for boiling water and charging on third day of blackouts

In the Arctic region, the third day has begun as power outages in residential buildings continue in Murmansk and Severomorsk due to the collapse of power line supports. For those who found themselves in a difficult situation, assistance points have been deployed.

At Gymnasium No. 1 in Murmansk, a queue has already formed: people come for power banks, take hot tea, and prepare to receive hot meals.

According to our journalist Dmitry Artyomenko, on site since early morning, Murmansk Regional Duma deputy Roman Sergeyevich Ponomarev has been working. The assistance point started operating at 10:00 and will be open until midnight.

«There are a lot of people today. People come for boiling water to charge devices, some take a power bank to return it later. The military guys have set up a field kitchen, in twenty minutes we»ll start serving hot porridge with meat. People are very restrained, understanding — thank you very much to them,« the deputy told 51.RU.

Ponomarev noted that people are standing in line in an organized manner, order is maintained, the atmosphere is calm. Many residents come themselves to help, and the volunteer center actively supports the point«s work.
The deputy also added that food packages for residents are delayed — their delivery is expected only in the evening.
Recall that in Murmansk Region, a state of emergency has been declared. The Murmansk Region Prosecutor«s Office has already launched an investigation due to mass power outages. A criminal case has been initiated. It turned out that the collapsed power line supports had been in service for almost 60 years.
Murmansk residents have been told where they can go to warm up and charge electronic devices. And city entrepreneurs are ready to provide food from their main menu at a discount. Also, interactive maps have been prepared for citizens.
In Leninsky District, rotational blackouts have been introduced. The addresses where electricity will be cut off are being updated. In Murmansk Region, they were forced to declare a state of emergency.
