Murmansk Region Lifts Emergency After Grid Accident

Authorities in Murmansk Region have canceled the state of emergency. The region continues to operate under a high alert regime until permanent power line supports are fully installed.

Electricity has been restored in Murmansk and Severomorsk. Some fine-tuning remains, the dispatch service is operating in an enhanced mode, and for any issues, one can contact the Unified Regional Housing and Utilities Hotline at numbers 0051 or 8 800 444-00-51.

Some educational institutions will continue to operate remotely, which is related to the need for additional preparation for the educational process.

Public transport is also returning to normal operation, on regular routes.

— Work continues on installing the main supports; four have already been delivered by helicopter and all-terrain vehicle. Another one will be brought tomorrow, — said Andrey Chibis.

Andrey Chibis announced the cancellation of electricity bills for residents during the power outages.

Due to the accident, a state of emergency was declared in Murmansk Region. The Murmansk Region Prosecutor«s Office has already launched an investigation into the mass power outages. A criminal case has been initiated. It turned out that the fallen power line supports had been in service for almost 60 years.
