Murmansk hotels open doors to residents during utility outages

In Murmansk, the largest hotels have united to support residents who have been left without heating and electricity. This was reported by the regional tourism ministry.

The regional government is coordinating efforts to manage the utility crisis and assist affected citizens.

In the hotels «Kosmos», «Meridian», and «Azimut», special assistance zones have been set up. In conference halls, one can charge phones, get boiling water, and heat up food. To receive help, it is enough to approach the administration desk and explain one«s situation.

Separate support is provided for families with small children. They may be offered temporary accommodation to bathe the child, put them to sleep, and stay warm. The possibility of accommodation should be confirmed in advance by calling:

  • Hotel «Azimut» — +7 (8152) 55-03-50.

Moreover, the hotels have introduced discounts in restaurants for city residents:

  • «Kosmos Murmansk», «Barents Bar» — 20% discount;

  • «Meridian», restaurant «M-Club» — 25% discount;

  • «Azimut Murmansk», restaurant on the 2nd floor — 20% discount.

Support will be provided to all who find themselves in a difficult situation due to utility outages.

Recall that in the Murmansk region, a state of heightened readiness has been introduced due to power outages. This decision was made at a meeting of the operational headquarters. Street lighting in Murmansk has been temporarily turned off.

The press service of «Rosseti Severo-Zapad» (Rosseti North-West) reported that the cause of the outage was a technological failure on an overhead power line. Later it became known that five supports collapsed. Trolleybuses in Murmansk changed their routes.

The prosecutor«s office of the Murmansk region has already launched an investigation due to the mass power outages. A criminal case has been initiated.

Murmansk residents have been told where they can go to warm up and charge electronic devices. And city entrepreneurs are ready to provide food from their main menu at a discount.

The consequences of the accident are being addressed, and «Rosseti Severo-Zapad» has brought additional snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles to the emergency site. Meanwhile, communication disruptions are being observed in the region.
