Murmansk Applies to Russian Patent Office with Arctic Slogans
Murmansk is seeking to trademark slogans like «Heart of the Arctic» to boost its Arctic city branding.
In Murmansk, work has begun on creating official trademarks that should emphasize the city«s unique status in the Arctic. This involves slogans such as »Murmansk — Heart of the Arctic!«, »Murmansk — Soul of the Arctic!«, and »Murmansk — capital of the northern lights!«.
This instruction was given by city mayor Ivan Lebedev. The Committee for Economic Development and Tourism of the Murmansk administration has been tasked with preparing application drafts for submission to Rospatent, as well as developing regulatory documents governing the use of the new brands.
As noted in the directive, the future trademarks should reflect Murmansk«s key role as a symbolic and tourist center of the Arctic zone, as well as one of the best places in Russia to observe the northern lights.
After state registration, the brands are planned to be registered with the property relations committee.
Recall that the slogan «Murmansk — capital of the Arctic» has already become a trademark.
