According to media reports, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos stated that Savannah Guthrie«s mother was taken from her bed.
Investigation into Nancy Guthrie«s disappearance includes checking local cameras and registered sex offenders.
As media report, police claim that Nancy Guthrie was forcibly removed from her home in Arizona in the middle of the night.
A representative of the Pima County Sheriff«s Office said that, according to the investigation, Guthrie was kidnapped from her home in the prestigious Catalina Foothills area. He said investigators are reviewing the list of registered sex offenders in the area, as well as checking footage from cameras at Guthrie»s house, neighbors« homes, local businesses, and traffic lights.
Police declined to comment on whether blood was found in the house, if there were signs of a struggle, or if a break-in occurred. However, the sheriff«s department reported that it is cooperating with the FBI, which has extensive experience in kidnapping and missing persons cases.
According to the sheriff«s representative, U.S. Customs and Border Protection has also been involved in the case because its specially trained service dogs were used to search for Guthrie. A suspect has not yet been identified.
As previously reported, 84-year-old Nancy was declared missing on Sunday afternoon, and she was last seen on Saturday evening at her home in Tucson. Earlier, authorities stated that homicide detectives are investigating the case.
In a statement on Sunday, Savannah said: «On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and words of support. Right now, our focus is on the safe return of our dear mother.»
