Moscow to Open New Waterfront Leisure Zones in 2026

In 2026, 15 leisure areas by water bodies will be created in Moscow. The Moscow city hall promised that these will be leisure zones of a «new format». In the Northern Administrative Okrug (SAO), such spots will appear near the Golovinsky and Angarsky ponds; in the North-Eastern Administrative Okrug (SVAO) — near the Dzhamgarovsky and Dolgie ponds. In the Eastern Administrative Okrug (VAO), the Golyanovsky, Bolshoy Perovsky, and Vladimirsky ponds will be developed.

In the Southern Administrative Okrug (YuAO), recreation will become more pleasant at the Biryulevsky Upper and Lower ponds; in the South-Western Administrative Okrug (YuZAO) — at the Chernevsky and Yasenevsky ponds. In the Western Administrative Okrug (ZAO), leisure areas will be developed near the Bolshoy Ochakovsky, Verkhny Udaltsovsky, and Central ponds in Solntsevo. In the Troitsky and Novomoskovsky Administrative Okrugs (TiNAO) — the «Zarechye» leisure zone on the Desna River.

All territories will meet a new standard: there will be pile-supported decks with deck chairs and sun loungers, strips of white sand by the water, and canopies will be installed. Changing rooms with showers and toilets are also planned.

Near the beaches, sports grounds and children«s play areas will be placed. For family recreation — picnic zones and cafes in pavilions. At the Golyanovsky, Chernevsky, and Golovinsky ponds, as well as in the »Zarechye« leisure zone, pools will appear.

Video cameras will be installed everywhere, rescue towers will be provided, and for coziness, lighting will be added. In case of injuries or other health issues, first aid stations will be available by the water bodies.
