Missing Savannah Guthrie's mother's home becomes a crime scene

The disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, mother of «Today» show host Savannah Guthrie, is now being investigated as a criminal act. According to media reports, the 84-year-old woman«s home in Tucson, Arizona, has been declared a crime scene, and police are actively searching.

Nancy Guthrie suffers from mobility issues and needs daily medication. She was last seen at her home on the evening of January 31.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos stated that the woman could not have simply left on her own. «She is of sound mind, but physical ailments limit her ability to move,» he said. According to him, there are suspicious circumstances at the scene.

Savannah Guthrie missed an episode of the «Today» show and issued a statement. «I thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and words of support,» she said. «Right now, we are focused on the safe return of our dear mother.» She urged anyone with information to contact the police.

The FBI, and Customs and Border Protection have joined the search, as the home is located near the Mexican border. Aircraft and drones are being used.
Savannah«s colleagues on the show have expressed concern. NBC crime news expert Tom Winter noted the FBI»s active involvement is due to the nature of findings at the scene.
Savannah Guthrie recently returned to television after vocal cord surgery. She has a close relationship with her mother, whom she often features on social media.
