On the evening of February 1, the search team LizaAlert received a request to find a missing pensioner, Lyubov Veniaminovna, in Sverdlovsk Oblast. As volunteers recounted: «Ural winter is in full swing; a person can get frostbite in a matter of hours. After snowfalls, the snow in the forest is loose and deep, making it difficult to walk, but it was precisely this snow that saved a life. 13 volunteers from the LizaAlert team arrived at the search headquarters, including drivers with specialized vehicles. The first group went on foot — and immediately struck luck: they found the missing woman»s tracks. Among the searchers was an experienced tracker who could read them.«
Volunteers released video footage of the moment the pensioner was found in the snowy forest.
«The trail stretched for almost five kilometers. Trying to find her way back, the woman looped and sometimes plowed straight through snowdrifts. The trail broke off and led from a country road into the forest. The grandmother was heading straight for an empty quarry. If she had continued forward, she risked falling into it. But she was found earlier: still conscious, trembling from cold, and exhausted. She could no longer walk on her own,» added the searchers.
Evacuating the woman from the forest required additional volunteers. «For nearly an hour they covered a distance that usually takes a few minutes. Pushing through snowdrifts, they carried the grandmother under snowfall: first on a stretched poncho, then on a stretcher,» the team noted.
Lyubov Veniaminovna was handed over to waiting paramedics. She is now in the hospital under medical supervision and the care of her family. Serious injuries or frostbite were avoided.
