Ministry of Defense Announces Destruction of Drones Over Volgograd Oblast

The Russian Defense Ministry stated that two Ukrainian drones were downed in the sky over Volgograd Oblast, according to its official Telegram channel.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced the destruction of two Ukrainian drones in the sky over Volgograd Oblast. According to the ministry, air defense forces on duty shot down the aircraft last night.

«In the course of the past night, from 23:00 on 19 January to 07:00 on 20 January, 32 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles of aircraft type were intercepted and destroyed by air defense systems on duty,» the ministry«s statement said. «Nine UAVs — over the territory of Bryansk Oblast, nine UAVs — over the territory of the Republic of Crimea, three UAVs — over the territory of Voronezh Oblast, two UAVs — over the territory of Belgorod Oblast, two UAVs — over the territory of Kursk Oblast, two UAVs — over the territory of Volgograd Oblast, two UAVs — over the territory of Astrakhan Oblast, two UAVs — over the territory of Samara Oblast, one UAV — over the territory of Smolensk Oblast».

Recall that on the evening of 19 January, a drone danger alert was declared in the region. The regional Emergency Situations Ministry (EMERCOM) sent SMS warnings to mobile subscribers. Subscribers received the cancellation of the drone danger alert only on the morning of 20 January. Meanwhile, no flight restrictions were imposed at Volgograd Airport, and all evening flights on 19 January departed on schedule. Morning flights from Moscow are also expected to arrive at Gumrak on time.
