Mass Cold Water Outages in Volgograd Prompt Hot Water Advice

Residents of northern Volgograd are complaining about mass cold water outages. According to locals, at some addresses, water has been absent since the evening of January 28, and people are unable to get a clear answer from emergency services about when the supply will be restored.

The first complaint came from residents of Zamechetinsky settlement, Ivan Franko Street, which recently garnered attention from the head of Russia«s Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin.

Complaints about water absence were made by residents of houses No. 8 and 10 on Ivan Franko Street, as well as Brasovskaya Street:

— «We haven»t had water for several days,« say Volgograd residents. »We call the management company, they say they«ve sent a request but don»t know anything more. And today, calls are answered by a virtual assistant. We called the housing and utilities department, they say they«re looking for the problem but don»t know anything yet.«

Complaints were also made by residents of the long-suffering house No. 107 on Lenin Avenue, as well as residents of house No. 72 on Metallurgov Avenue:

— «It all started on Friday evening when all our water was cut off. After a day, it was restored, but only hot water reached our house No. 72. Cold water is still absent, for almost a week now,» complain the residents. «When we call the »Concessions,« they give us one »valuable« piece of advice—to cool down hot water and use it as cold. But this isn»t a solution to the problem. Hot water is technical, not purified like cold, drinking water. Using it for cooking and drinking is extremely dangerous. We are forced to buy bottled water for drinking, and for household needs—to boil and cool it, which is absurd and expensive.«

In the «Water Supply Concessions,» they explained that on Ivan Franko Street, during an inspection, a burst was detected in a section of the water pipeline, and a team will soon begin to fix it. At Lenin Avenue, 107, the supply from the «Heat Supply Concessions» was not interrupted.

— «Yesterday morning, on Metallurgov Avenue, a team was conducting restoration work on the networks. Because of this, water supply was temporarily suspended in four houses on Metallurgov Avenue,» clarified the company. — «The work was completed, and the supply was restored at 22:10 on January 28.»
