Major Accidents and Power Cuts Hit Rostov Region on January 27

27 January saw a series of incidents and administrative decisions in Rostov Oblast. Serious accidents occurred on the M-4 highway, and a large-scale power outage took place in the Aksaysky district.
In the morning, three traffic accidents occurred at the 1029th kilometer of the M-4 «Don» highway in the Aksaysky district. Seven vehicles were involved, including a public bus, leading to a traffic jam stretching six kilometers (about 3.7 miles). Later, due to ice and snow drifts on approaches to Rostov-on-Don, the road situation worsened, and the length of the traffic jam reached 14 kilometers (about 8.7 miles).
Thousands of residents in the Aksaysky district were left without electricity following an accident at a transformer substation.
The authorities of Rostov Oblast have begun a reform of street trading, including the organization of summer cafes. This decision followed numerous public complaints. In the near future, permitted zones for trading facilities will be determined, and uniform standards for their external appearance will be established.
The administration of Rostov-on-Don has filed a lawsuit against a paid parking operator. The reason was non-compliance with contractual obligations after some parking meters were dismantled due to international sanctions.
Applications for compensation for vehicles damaged as a result of unmanned aerial vehicle attacks will begin to be accepted in March 2026. The necessary regulatory procedures are now being finalized.
