Residents of Akademichesky have raised the alarm over the destruction of a green zone. Machinery has begun cutting down trees within the boundaries of Pavel Shamanov, Wilhelm de Gennin, Academician Sakharov, and Ryabinin streets.

Project documentation outlines plans for three residential blocks, a school, and two kindergartens to be built on the site.

«Without any announcement, they started cutting down the forest on the wasteland of Shamanov and Wilhelm de Gennin,» a district resident told E1.RU.

It became known last year that this site would be allocated for development. According to the project, residential high-rises, a school for 1,125 places, and two kindergartens with 250 places each will be built here. In April, the project was put up for public discussion, and in June, the land surveying was approved.

The press service of the Yekaterinburg administration told E1.RU that no construction permit has been issued for this site yet.
