Kurgan's Tobol, Blue Lakes Water Worsens in Heat

Authorities urge swimmers to avoid Kurgan«s official beaches due to poor water quality.
In Kurgan (Kurgan Oblast, Russia), authorities recommend temporarily refraining from swimming at all three official beaches. According to the city administration, water samples taken at the officially open recreation and swimming areas on the Tobol River near Solnechny Boulevard, Babi Peski beach, and the Blue Lakes showed that water quality has deteriorated due to the ongoing heat.
«This phenomenon does not pose a serious danger to humans, but for the time being one should refrain from swimming,» the administration recommends that residents and guests of Kurgan temporarily avoid entering the water.
The city hall also clarifies that the city regularly takes water samples at all officially designated swimming areas and monitors their condition. As soon as water indicators improve, residents will be informed additionally.
