The document from the St. Petersburg Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture (KGA) outlines the planning project.

Smolny (the St. Petersburg city administration) has issued an order to prepare a territory planning project (PPT) for the Krasnoputilovskaya interchange. The document was published on 4 February, and work on the project must be completed by March 2027.

The project includes several key elements:

  • The transport interchange itself at the intersection of Krasnoputilovskaya Street with the railway tracks of the stretch between the Avtovo and Narvskaya stations.
  • A section of Krasnoputilovskaya Street from Avtovskaya Street to Narodnogo Opolcheniya Avenue.
  • A section of Chervonnogo Kazachestva Street from Pyotr Semenenko Square to Primakova Street.
  • Approaches to the listed streets.

This is a landmark project for the southern districts of St. Petersburg, the construction of which residents have been awaiting for many years.

It is worth noting that this is not the first attempt to begin design work. A similar assignment for the development of the PPT was already issued in 2024 with an initial deadline of December 2025.

In May 2025, a competition was announced for the development of both the planning project and the design documentation for the interchange itself. The winner was JSC Institute Giprostroymost — Saint Petersburg, with which a contract worth 340 million rubles (approximately $3.4 million at current rates) was signed. According to the terms, the work must be completed by December 2026.
