Kazan Records Russia's Highest Airfare Hike at 45%

Air travel from Kazan has become significantly more expensive, with a 45% price rise recorded since 2021.
Air travel costs in Kazan have risen since 2021. This was reported by Andrei Zagainov, General Director of Pegas Kazan LLC, at a meeting of the final board of the State Committee for Tourism.
«The cost of transportation has, of course, increased multiple times, and there are objective indicators for this. However, the cost of jet fuel is the same for all Russian cities, and yet Kazan is ahead of the whole planet: we are seeing a record 45% increase — more than St. Petersburg and even more than Sochi,» said Zagainov.
The speaker also compared St. Petersburg with Kazan in terms of the minimum tour cost. He gave an example: if an average resident of Omsk wants to fly for a vacation within Russia and chooses a four-night tour in a four-star hotel with breakfast, then a trip to Kazan would cost 72,000 rubles (about $800 at current rates), and to St. Petersburg — 70,000 rubles (about $780).
«The difference seems minimal, insignificant, but now, attention, the question is — where would you go?» he asked.
Recall that from January 26, new flights from Kazan to Istanbul will be launched, operating three times a week. A one-way ticket costs from 10,143 to 15,728 rubles (about $113–$175 at current rates).
