Johnny Depp has drastically altered his appearance for a role in a new film adaptation of Charles Dickens«s classic story. To transform into Ebenezer Scrooge, the actor used makeup that makes him look about twenty years older. The first images from the set, taken in late January, have already appeared online.

This project will be Depp«s first major Hollywood role since the 2019 film »Waiting for the Barbarians.« Recently, he has been working on smaller-scale projects. According to media reports, the actor began appearing less frequently in major productions after his legal battle with ex-wife Amber Heard. During that process, the actress was reportedly found liable in a defamation lawsuit related to her 2018 publication.
