According to media reports, Jill Biden«s ex-husband, William Stevenson, has been charged with the murder of his wife.
The charges were filed on Monday in Wilmington, Delaware.
On the night of December 28, police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at the couple«s home. At approximately 11:15 p.m., William»s wife, Linda Stevenson, was found unconscious in the living room.
Linda Stevenson, 64, was pronounced dead at the scene despite attempts by officers to provide aid. William reportedly cooperated with law enforcement.
The official cause of death has not been disclosed, but the audio recording of the call mentions cardiac arrest. William himself called emergency services.
William Stevenson, 77, was arrested on Monday and remanded in custody with bail set at $500,000.
Jill married William in February 1970 when he was 23 and she was a student at the University of Delaware. They separated in 1974 and had a painful divorce. A few years later, in June 1977, Jill married Joe Biden, who was then a senator from Delaware.
