Nancy Guthrie went missing on Saturday evening. Authorities in Tucson, Arizona, are trying to quell rumors that Savannah’s brother-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, is the «prime suspect» in this apparent kidnapping. The Sheriff’s Office insists that the investigation is ongoing and an arrest is unlikely in the near future.

According to media reports, some local outlets have received notes demanding a ransom for Nancy’s safe return. Former NewsNation anchor Ashley Banfield claims her sources told her that Tommaso Cioni is under investigation. Additionally, Savannah’s sister Annie’s car was reportedly towed, seized, and is now evidence.
Sheriff Chris Nanos refuted rumors that Tommaso Cioni is a suspect.

According to authorities, Cioni was the last person to see Nancy before her disappearance. He drove the 84-year-old woman home after dinner with her and Annie on Saturday evening and ensured she entered the house safely. The kidnapping is believed to have occurred at her home sometime between 9:45 p.m. that evening and early Sunday morning.
The investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance is ongoing with FBI involvement.
Blood stains were found at Nancy’s doorstep, indicating the circumstances of her disappearance. However, detectives investigating the case were quick to dismiss reports of suspects, issuing a statement saying that no one has been identified as a suspect or person of interest at this time.
Sheriff Chris Nanos stated that his department does not know where Nancy Guthrie is.

According to media reports, several news organizations received mysterious ransom demands on Tuesday, three days after the alleged kidnapping. The note, which authorities have not confirmed, demanded a «specific substantial amount in bitcoin.» According to sources, the amount is in the millions, and the funds were to be sent to a specific bitcoin address. The email also included details of Nancy’s clothing and damage to the house — likely to prove the sender was not an impostor.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Office said on social media that they are aware of reports of possible ransom notes, and all incoming information is being passed on to detectives who are coordinating with the FBI. Authorities urged the public not to spread unverified accusations or false information, as it hampers the investigation.
Sheriff Chris Nanos previously evaded questions about a possible ransom demand, only stating that they are «exploring all avenues.» He acknowledged that his department has very little information and does not know where Nancy is. «As with any investigation, we start from the point where she was last seen and move forward. We are working within our capabilities,» he said.
Although Nanos previously indicated they do not believe Nancy was targeted because of the money and fame of her daughter Savannah, he never ruled it out entirely. «Nothing we see leads us in that direction, but we never rule anything out. We will continue to look at everything and move forward,» the sheriff shared.
