Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), has taken personal control of the construction of an apartment building in the Krasnoarmeysky district of Volgograd.

According to local residents, the new high-rise violates urban planning norms and poses a fire safety threat.

Concerned citizens from the «Admiralty» residential complex appealed to the head of the ICRF with a video message. They point out that the developer plans to erect the building between existing houses, reducing the distance between walls to 36 meters, while the minimum allowable is 50 meters.

This will deprive them of a courtyard, worsen sunlight exposure, and create a shortage of parking spaces.

Alexander Bastrykin promptly responded to the complaints, instructing Volgograd investigators to conduct an inspection and submit a report.

«Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, has instructed Vasily Semyonov, head of the Investigative Committee»s department for the Volgograd region, to conduct a procedural inspection and submit a report on the circumstances established during the initial verification activities, and upon completion of the inspection — on its results,« the Investigative Committee of Russia»s information center reported.
