The St. Petersburg Transport Construction Directorate has concluded a contract for the development of a project for the right-bank exit from the Alexander Nevsky Bridge. As part of the work, Malookhtinsky Prospekt will be reconstructed and a new open tunnel will be built to organize continuous traffic flow along the embankment.

The agreement worth 107 million rubles (approximately $1.2 million at current rates) was announced this week. The contractor must complete the design by November 5.

The executor is the Tatarstan company Intekhproekt owned by Alfia Sagdieva. This organization has been actively involved in road projects in St. Petersburg since last year, having signed a number of contracts with the Transport Construction Directorate. These include:

  • design of the extension of Shuvalovsky Prospekt;
  • development of the street network around the future terminal of the high-speed highway (HSM);
  • construction of a section of the M-15 highway in the southwest of the city.

The project for reconstructing the exit from the Alexander Nevsky Bridge and building a tunnel in the alignment of Malookhtinsky Prospekt is long-term. The proposed solution is similar to the traffic organization on Sinopskaya Embankment.
