Hourly flight delays leave Yekaterinburg vacationers stranded at Koltsovo

In Yekaterinburg, flight UJ-724 from Koltsovo to Hurghada, Egypt, has been postponed for a second consecutive day. The AlMasria Universal Airlines aircraft was supposed to land at the airport yesterday, January 28, but was forced to divert to Chelyabinsk.

According to one of the passengers who ended up in Chelyabinsk, people were kept on the plane from 07:00 to 10:40. Some still have not received their luggage.

The same plane is supposed to take the tourists back to Egypt.

«The flight is being delayed every hour. The plane landed in Chelyabinsk, and it»s unknown when it will arrive in Yekaterinburg,« complained a reader of E1.RU.

The press service of Koltsovo responded that the airport is operating normally, but due to snowfall, the aircraft crew decided to divert to an alternate airfield. Meanwhile, other flights arrived on schedule.

«Due to the delay in the aircraft»s arrival in Yekaterinburg, the departure time for Hurghada is changing. Representatives of the airline are working with passengers, providing services in accordance with federal aviation regulations,« commented Koltsovo.

Meanwhile, at the airport itself, there is a crowd of waiting passengers. Representatives of the transport prosecutor«s office are communicating with them, and the situation has been taken under control.

«Passengers are being provided with drinks and hot meals. The Sverdlovsk Transport Prosecutor»s Office has organized a mobile office at Koltsovo Airport,« the agency said.

Recently at Koltsovo, a blogger with a small child was detained. All due to new rules for entry and exit abroad — the child had a birth certificate, not a passport, as required by the new rules, which came into effect on January 20.
