The prosecutor«s office reported: »The accident occurred on the night of 28 January of this year due to a voltage surge caused by a break in power transmission line wires as a result of a fallen tree.«
As a result, the supply of cold water first stopped, and then hot water. The shutdown affected 189 apartment buildings. Heating is supplied to all buildings, except for those where scheduled work is being carried out.
Yaroblvodokanal (the Yaroslavl Regional Water Utility) explained: «An emergency shutdown of the boiler occurred at the district boiler house, which led to damage to the convective part of the boiler, causing a significant leak of coolant. In order to preserve the heat supply to residential buildings, the management decided to limit the supply of hot water until the repair of the damaged equipment is completed.»
According to the plan, repair work should be completed by 15:00, after which the boiler will be fired up. Full restoration of the system will take additional time, and the supply of hot water will resume no earlier than 18:00.
The situation was checked by Tutaev interdistrict prosecutor Natalia Eliseeva. The regional prosecutor«s office has taken control of the case.
The press service of the department stated: «During the inspection, an assessment will be made of compliance with the requirements of industrial safety legislation, including issues of maintenance and repair of heating network facilities, as well as legislation on the uninterrupted provision of quality utility services to the population.»
Earlier, on 23 January, half of the city of Myshkin was also left without cold water due to a technical malfunction on the central water supply.
