Hooligans, drivers, illegal loggers cause Transbaikal power cuts

Hooligans, special equipment drivers, and «black loggers» left residents of Transbaikal without power 48 times in 2025 — six fewer cases than in 2024. This was reported on 4 February to a correspondent of Chita.Ru by the press service of the branch of Rosseti Siberia — Chitaenergo.
Thus, in 26 of 48 cases, power in residents« homes was lost due to foreign objects being thrown onto power lines. In 19 cases, cable lines were damaged by special equipment during unauthorized excavation work; two cases were caused by »black loggers«; and one case involved damage to power lines by oversized passing vehicles.
«Throwing wire and other objects onto wires is often done by minors. Such hooliganism is dangerous not only for the operation of the networks but also for life,» the press service said.
They clarified that energy workers contact the police for each technical violation caused by outsiders. An investigation is conducted, the perpetrators are sought, and the damage is calculated, which the culprits must compensate to the power grid company.
