Governor Slyusar Calls Temernik Market South's Largest Counterfeit Hub

The closed Temernik market in Rostov was the largest channel for selling counterfeit light industry products in southern Russia. Governor Yuri Slyusar stated this during parliamentary hearings in the State Duma.
«Yesterday this cluster, the largest in southern Russia, through which a huge amount of counterfeit and low-quality products passed, threatening the health and safety of residents, was closed. I believe such measures should continue. This is very important for legalizing sales channels,» Slyusar told State Duma deputies.
However, the market«s closure is officially not related to the sale of illegal products. This follows from a comment by Shamil Karabashev, director of »Bely Temer« and »Pervy Temer,« given to the publication »Gorod N.« According to him, the markets» operations were suspended due to the lack of various documents from supervisory bodies responsible for sanitary and epidemiological well-being. But, Karabashev assures, the markets have everything needed to meet these requirements.
He added that the halt in market operations has currently affected about 700 traders. As reported by 161.RU, the «Vostochny» market, located between «Bely Temer» and «Pervy Temer,» continues to operate.
Recall that the markets were closed based on enforcement documents from the Pervomaisky District Court. On site, employees of the bailiffs« office worked in cooperation with police and Rosgvardia.
«The debtors have been served with appropriate procedural documents and warned of administrative and criminal liability in case of non-compliance with the court decision,» the press service of the Main Directorate of the Federal Bailiff Service for Rostov Region reported.
Meanwhile, police have no questions for the markets yet.
«Regarding the Temernik market, we have no criminal cases in production on this matter,» 161.RU was told by Yulia Odnoravlova, deputy head of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for Rostov Region – head of the Criminal Investigation Department.
The press service of the Federal Bailiff Service Directorate for Rostov Region added that «the suspension of market activities remains in place.» Traders were explained that if necessary, they can retrieve their goods. But they will have to remove them under the supervision of bailiffs.
Governor Yuri Slyusar announced the closure of «Temernik» on January 28. He called it a «hotbed of crime, counterfeiting, and illegal immigration.»
