Governor Chibis details gas pricing plans for Murmansk region

Today in Murmansk, a press conference by Governor Andrey Chibis is taking place. He is answering journalists« questions. About 100 people are accredited for the event.

The first question was about gas prices in the Murmansk region. Andrey Chibis replied that there are two prices.

— One price is for generating thermal energy. There is no discussion here. The price will be capped so that costs do not rise, and may even be reduced. The main discussion — the price of gas for industrial consumers. Gasification — is not just about moving away from fuel oil, ecology and a more lenient bill. The main reason why we fought for this project and pushed through the gasification decision — is for existing production, so that what is extracted is processed here.

According to the governor, the president supported the initiative for the price for industrial consumers to be at the average level for the district. The issue was discussed with the head of Gazprom, Alexey Miller, and with the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS).

— This requires a huge number of detailed calculations. There are many nuances that need to be calculated. The next step — a meeting at the Ministry of Energy, then we will consult on the platform of the Russian government. We will try to legally formalize this decision.

The press conference was very emotional in parts; at one point, Andrey Chibis sincerely admitted who he felt like punching in the face.
