Roger Goodell expressed confidence that Bad Bunny, who recently criticized the immigration service at the Grammy Awards, will not use the Super Bowl stage for political statements. The NFL commissioner told journalists that he considers the artist someone who «unites, not divides» the audience.
Bad Bunny, set to perform at the Super Bowl, has previously spoken out on immigration issues at award shows.
The commissioner was asked about Bad Bunny«s recent speech and whether he expects a similar message during the halftime show on February 8. Goodell responded that he chose the artist for two reasons: he is »one of the greatest musicians in the world« and »understands the platform he has.« According to Goodell, this stage is used to unite people through creativity and talent, and he believes that Bad Bunny recognizes this and will put on a great show.
Goodell was also asked about the presence of immigration service personnel during the Super Bowl days. He emphasized that security is the top priority for such a large-scale event, and there are no changes compared to previous years. It was previously reported that no detentions are planned on the stadium grounds during the game, but agents will be in the area of the event.
