«The Ural winter is in full swing; a person can get frostbite in just a few hours. After the snowfall, the snow in the forest is loose and deep, making it difficult to walk, but it was precisely this that saved a human life. The search headquarters received 13 volunteers from the LizaAlert team, including drivers with special equipment. The first to set out was a walking group — and immediately luck: they found tracks of the missing woman; among the searchers was an experienced tracker who could read them.»
«The trail stretched for almost five kilometers. In an attempt to return, the woman zigzagged and sometimes plowed straight through snowdrifts. The trail broke off and led from a dirt road into the forest. The grandmother was heading straight for an empty quarry. If she had continued forward, she risked falling into it. However, she was discovered earlier: still conscious, shivering from cold and exhausted. She could no longer walk on her own,» the searchers said.
Other volunteers also came to their aid to evacuate the pensioner from the forest. The nearest road was about 300 meters away, but this distance had to be traversed through snowdrifts with an exhausted elderly woman.
«It took them a little under an hour to cover a distance that would normally take a few minutes. Making their way through drifts, they carried the grandmother under the snowfall: first on a stretched tarpaulin, then on a stretcher,» added the search team.
Lyubov Veniaminovna was handed over to ambulance medics waiting at the forest exit. She is now in the hospital, being cared for by doctors and relatives. Fortunately, the pensioner was not seriously injured.
