Frozen pipes seal off Chita apartment entrance

Residents of house No. 42v on Novobulvarnaya Street in Chita reported that their pipes are freezing, leaks are forming, which freeze and block the entrance to the apartment building. On January 28, the press service of the city administration told Chita.Ru that they are considering the issue of insulating these pipes.

«The problem is with the supply of hot and cold water; it was thawed three times in a week, and it all froze again overnight. In the cold water supply, a wooden plug is stuck, water floods the entrance to the building, heating and water supply pipes are exposed, and no one is taking measures. Neighbors say this happens every year,» one of the residents said.

According to him, the management company sends a contractor, whose workers thaw the pipe and leave, and then it freezes over again.

«They say their contract is until February 1, and what will happen with this house further is unclear. As the contractors say, the house is on the administration»s balance sheet. And today we have this situation — ice is building up even more, the door to the entrance doesn«t close, in the morning we couldn»t get out,« the interviewee said.

In the mayor«s office, they told Chita.Ru that in this house, pipes froze on the street and then in the attic.

«Hot water supply in it comes from the attic, there was no constant water leak. The issue of additional funding for insulating the pipes will be resolved,» added the administration.

In addition to heating problems, a resident of the house spoke about difficulties with electricity supply: «I understand electricity myself. We have 195 volts during the day, and in the evening, when everyone is home, 180–183. The dispatcher at Chitaenergosbyt answered that we need to contact the management company, and when I explained to him that at the electricity input to the house there isn»t the required 220 volts, he just hung up.«

In the company Chitaenergosbyt, in connection with the situation, they explained that if there are problems, consumers can leave requests for inspection, which specialists process, and an electrician is sent to the site.

«A request can be submitted through the mobile app or by email, as well as left in writing at Babushkina, 38. Since the branch »Rosseti Siberia« — »Chitaenergo« is responsible for the quality of electricity, we must attach the consumer»s written complaint, so it is necessary to leave it in the personal account, mobile app, or personally at our office,« added the company.
