Residents of the small hamlet of Medvedev in the Ivolvinsky District of the Volgograd Region are pleading for help to keep warm. Due to problems with one of the two boilers that heat the settlement, the radiators have gone cold, while outside temperatures have been dropping to -19°C (-2.2°F) in the evenings. Meanwhile, the hamlet«s administration claims that the problem was resolved just today.

As a resident of the Medvedev hamlet told a V1.RU correspondent, the issue has affected 13 two-story houses, which are heated by two boilers. Or rather, for the past week, only one of them has been working, he said.

“Our boilers are not very good,” a local resident says. “There are constant disruptions, we only get a little heat. The boilers are big, they work at full capacity, but they can«t cope. One of them had a sensor break, now they»ve apparently brought a new one and are installing it. But even then, when the technician will come and when he«ll install it — who knows. And the apartment has been lacking heat for about a month now. The administration ignored everyone. Now the prosecutor»s office seems to have taken up the matter. But I doubt they«ll do anything.”

The head of the Medvedevskoye rural settlement, Alexander Grebnev, did not deny the problem in a conversation with a V1.RU correspondent, but added that it had been resolved.

“The problem wasn«t just with the sensor,” explains Alexander Grebnev. “They brought the sensor, put it in place, installed it. The problem was in the boiler control software. Adjusters came and fixed it. At two o»clock one boiler was still working, and when they ran diagnostics on the second one, they started both.”

Recall that in recent days, literally everyone in Volgograd and the region has been freezing. Pregnant women complained about the cold in a women«s clinic, mass events were canceled due to severe frosts, college students, bus passengers suffered from the harsh winter, and schools shortened lessons. However, forecasters recently predicted that long-awaited warmth will soon come to the region.
