The hospital was built in 1913 when cholera and typhus were raging in the city. It was then called the «Contagious Infectious Hospital.» In 1938, the medical facility was renamed «City Infectious Disease Hospital No. 1.» A hundred years later, its buildings became dilapidated, a new infectious disease hospital was built in Perm, and the old one was decided to be demolished.

Now, a large wasteland has formed on the site of the former buildings, with a tractor still clearing the foundations of some structures. The fence posts that surrounded the hospital, the arch, and the checkpoint in the old house are still standing.

On Pushkin Street, closer to the market, stands a two-story brick clinic for infectious diseases, where in the 1920s–1930s, Doctor of Medical Sciences Gleb Fleischer worked. The building is a cultural heritage site and is slated for preservation and restoration.

Alexander Garden square is planned to be built on the hospital site. Perm Krai Governor Dmitry Makhonin wrote in his Telegram channel that a children«s playground, an event space, and a quiet recreation area will appear here.

Landscaping is expected to be completed by November 18, 2026.

Earlier, we detailed the history of this oldest hospital. A tour of the then-standing oldest buildings was conducted by Honored Doctor of Russia Lyudmila Naumova.
