The 36-year-old actor was hospitalized on Christmas near Riverside, California. This happened several days after alarming photos of Chase, who once starred in the series «Ned»s Declassified School Survival Guide,« appeared online. These images caused a wave of concern among fans.
«We finally got Tyler the necessary help,» stated influencer Jacob «Jake» Harris. According to him, Chase«s father, horrified by the situation, begged him to do everything possible for his son. »He is now receiving medical care to improve his health,« Harris added.

Harris was helped by Chase«s former Nickelodeon colleague, Daniel Curtis Lee. Lee first housed the actor in a local motel, but then received a complaint from management that Chase had caused a mess in the room. »We have to do something before it«s too late for Tyler,» said Lee.
Sean Weiss also joined the effort to help, another former child actor whose own struggles with homelessness and addictions in 2020 concerned fans. Upon seeing the alarming photos of Chase, Weiss immediately promised support: «We»re just doing what we must to, so to speak, get him off the streets.«
Harris recounted that he contacted a crisis center where Chase was assessed the same day. Specialists determined that he immediately needed help and sent him to the hospital.
The actor«s father, Joseph Mendez Jr., acknowledged that his son has been battling addiction since 2015, when he was diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. »For more than ten years, the family has been seeking treatment options for Chase, including addiction help and psychiatric support,« said Mendez.
It is noted that for many years, Chase refused help. According to Weiss, the actor once stated: «I like my life the way it is.» «And I can assure you, he does not like his life the way it is,» Weiss retorted.
Now, according to Harris, the situation may be changing for the better. He recounted that he spent «a whole hour» with Chase while the actor«s father and former colleagues spoke to him on the phone. »They explained their love for him and how much they want and need him to accept help,« Harris wrote, describing how he managed to persuade Chase to go to the hospital.
