Situation with ARVI and Influenza
Based on the results of the fourth week of 2026, in St. Petersburg, the overall incidence of ARVI and influenza decreased by 27.9% compared to the previous week. Epidemic thresholds have not been exceeded. The share of influenza cases in the structure of ARVI was 3.4%.
In Leningrad Oblast, over the same period, an increase in the total indicator for ARVI and influenza was recorded by 6.7%. Epidemic thresholds in the region also remain below established levels.
Spread of COVID-19
Among viruses not related to influenza, in both regions, SARS-CoV-2 (the causative agent of COVID-19), rhinoviruses, seasonal coronaviruses, and metapneumoviruses are most often detected.
The incidence of COVID-19 in St. Petersburg in the fourth week of the year increased by 16.6% compared to the third week. In Leningrad Oblast (region 47), the increase in this indicator was 13.0%.
Prevention Recommendations
Specialists from Rospotrebnadzor urge people to pay close attention to their health and consult doctors at the first symptoms of respiratory diseases. To protect against infections, it is recommended to follow simple measures:
- Wash hands regularly.
- Ensure ventilation of premises.
- Treat work surfaces and electronic devices with disinfectants.
- Avoid contact with people showing signs of illness.
- Conduct wet cleaning at least 1–2 times a week.
