On January 22, the annual press conference of Governor Andrey Chibis was held in Murmansk. Before meeting with journalists, he outlined key development priorities for the region in 2026.

The main task is the development of the Arctic and the Trans-Arctic transport corridor. According to the governor, Arctic projects should provide people with jobs and confidence in the future.

In the region, the practical implementation of master plans for key Arctic settlements has begun. Additional federal funds will be directed towards developing urban environment and infrastructure.

Authorities will continue supporting families and demography. In 2026, the «In the North — A Child» project will be developed, aimed at creating comfortable conditions for living and raising children.

Attention to children and youth will remain: there are 44 support measures in place in the region, and funding for youth policy has increased 15-fold over five years.

Systematic assistance to participants of the Special Military Operation (SVO) and their families also continues — there are 55 support measures in the region.

Andrey Chibis emphasized that all projects must directly improve the quality of life for northerners and be understandable to people.
