February in Nizhny Novgorod: Frost or Early Spring?

Residents of Nizhny Novgorod can expect temperature swings in the coming days
In February, residents of Nizhny Novgorod can expect changeable weather. Days will alternate between 20-degree frosts (-4°F) and pre-spring lows of -4°C (25°F). NN.RU reviewed preliminary forecasts from several services and is ready to tell you what surprises await in the final month of winter.

The Gismeteo service forecasts a rather chilly start to the month: this week the mercury will hover between -8°C (18°F) and -20°C (-4°F). And on the night of February 3, it will drop to -27°C (-17°F). Over the weekend, the city will be covered by snowfall again.

Meanwhile, the middle of the month will be quite warm — the air temperature will gradually warm from -9°C (16°F) to -2°C (28°F).

As for the end of February, the streets will be swept by snow again. However, thermometers will show barely negative temperatures. Already in the first week of March, according to forecasters, the city will see above-zero temperatures and rain.
According to Yandex Weather forecasters, frosty weather will persist in the city for two weeks. On average, thermometers will show -10... -12°C (14°F to 10°F). Almost no snowfall is expected, except on February 7.
The second half of February promises to be a few degrees warmer. The air temperature will not drop below -9°C (16°F). There will be light snow from time to time.
According to the World Weather service, the last month of winter will be frosty. During the second week of February, temperatures will hold at -11... -15°C (12°F to 5°F).
It will only warm up on Monday, February 16 — the thermometer will show -9°C (16°F). In the following days, warmth will return to the city. By the end of the month, temperatures will hover around -2°C (28°F). No heavy precipitation is expected in February.
According to forecasters, meteorological spring will begin earlier than usual in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Severe flooding and inundation of significant land areas are expected.
