Farewell to killed auto mechanic near Volgograd

A farewell ceremony was held in the Yelansky district of Volgograd region for 22-year-old Egor Semko, who was killed in the special military operation zone.

The young man sustained a serious wound while carrying out a combat mission and died during evacuation to a medical facility.

The news of his death was shared by the volunteer community «Heart of Yelan.»

«It»s always painful to lose someone, but when you see the portrait of such a young guy, your heart breaks from pain. It«s impossible to believe and impossible to accept. A young, brave, fearless, courageous guy! Egor will forever remain in memory and in the heroic history of our country,» the activists wrote.

His cousin Elena said that Egor was the only man in the family. His father died when he was two years old.

Before the army, Semko graduated from an agricultural college with a specialty in automotive mechanics. In October 2024, he went to the special military operation zone, where he served as a rifleman.

«Two years ago, he came back from the army, and after six months decided to go to the special military operation because many of his comrades had died on the front lines. His mother tried to dissuade him, as he was her only son, and she raised him alone, moreover he was a late child,» Elena shared.

According to her, in May 2024, Egor got married, but no children were born in the family.

The death occurred on December 27 as a result of an unmanned aerial vehicle attack.

«They didn»t make it to the hospital, he died…. We were very afraid to tell his mother. Now she goes into his room every evening, takes his photographs, talks to him and howls like a wolf, it«s very scary to watch, and we can do nothing,» added the sister.

The funeral took place in the khutor of Alyavy with military honors. He is survived by his mother and wife.
