Farewell held near Volgograd for 22-year-old auto mechanic killed in Ukraine

In the Yelan District of Volgograd Region, farewell was said to 22-year-old Yegor Semko, who was killed in Ukraine. The young man went to the special military operation zone six months after completing his compulsory military service. He tragically died before the New Year. He sustained severe injuries during a combat mission, but they did not manage to get him to the hospital in time.
Information about the farewell for Yegor Semko appeared in the volunteer group «Heart of Yelan».
«It»s always painful to lose someone, but when you see the portrait of such a young guy, your heart breaks from pain. It«s impossible to believe and impossible to accept. Young, brave, fearless, courageous guy! Yegor will forever remain in memory and in the heroic history of our country,» the authors of the post wrote.
As told to V1.RU by the deceased«s cousin Elena, Yegor was the only man in the family. He had no brothers or sisters, and his father died when he was very young. Before the army, he studied at an agricultural college to become an auto mechanic. But in October 2024, he decided to go to the SMO zone. There, he was a rifleman.
«He came back from the army two years ago, and six months later decided to go to the SMO because many comrades had died on the front line. His mother tried to dissuade him, as he is her only son, and she raised him alone, plus he was a late child. His dad died when he was two years old,» Elena says.
According to Elena, in May of last year, Yegor came on leave and got married, but did not manage to have children. As his sister says, on 27 December he was killed during a drone strike.
«They didn»t get him to the hospital, he died…. They were very afraid to tell his mother. Now she goes into his room every evening, takes his photographs, talks to him, and howls like a wolf; it«s very scary to watch, and we can»t do anything.«
Yegor Semko was buried in the khutor of Alyavy with full military honors. He is survived by his mother and wife.
