Fares Increase in Murmansk: New Public Transport Prices

In Murmansk, from February 1, the cost of public transport fares has changed: the tariff increase was 15%.
The price of a trip depends on the payment method:
Unified Card for Murmansk Region residents — 47 rubles (approx. $0.50 at current rates);
bank card — 53 rubles (approx. $0.56 at current rates);
cash — 57 rubles (approx. $0.60 at current rates).
The monthly pass has also become more expensive:
for citizens — 2585 rubles (approx. $27 at current rates);
for full-time students of educational institutions — 1293 rubles (approx. $14 at current rates).

For suburban routes, tariffs are set from 4.72 to 6 rubles per kilometer (approx. $0.05 to $0.06 per km) — depending on the municipality and payment method. For intercity transportation, the cost is from 4.26 to 5.31 rubles per kilometer (approx. $0.04 to $0.06 per km).
Recall that according to the chairman of the tariff regulation committee, Yelena Stukova, the tariff increase is necessary due to rising costs for carriers. The general director of «Electrotransport», Sergei Korobkov, also justified the fare increase.
