Expert challenged over devaluation of Vahitov's Kazan house

An old photograph shows the house in question, which is at the center of a dispute over its historical value.
In Kazan, public discussions on the state expert assessment of the house where revolutionary Leninist Mullanur Vahitov was born have concluded. According to the document, the conclusion was sent back to the expert.
The participants disagreed with the conclusions to exclude the house from the register of cultural heritage objects, as well as with the assessment that its historical, architectural, and memorial value is insufficient.
“The results of the public discussions have been taken into account. A conclusion expressing disagreement with the findings set out in the expert assessment has been sent to the expert,” the document states.
The expert«s surname is not indicated in the document, but it is most likely Alexander Martynov. He was the one who conducted the assessment of the object»s value and stated that «revolutionary Vahitov is not a unique and historically valuable personality, and his revolutionary activity does not require memorialization.»
Recall that the corresponding expert assessment act was published on the website of the Committee for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Objects. In the document, Martynov also noted that the building had lost its historical appearance and interiors because it was converted into an office.
Urban conservationists, guides, and activists opposed this decision, emphasizing that Vahitov«s personality is of great significance in history. And the committee stated that the expert»s argument causes them bewilderment.
