EVRZ boiler repaired after residents froze; heating plans updated

Overnight on 25 January 2026, the third boiler at the Krasnoyarsk EVRZ plant was repaired; it heats residential buildings in the Svobodny and Mayerchaka districts. By morning, it had reached operating parameters, according to SGC (Siberian Generating Company), whose specialists are assisting with equipment startup. In 2026, consumers of the plant«s boiler house may be transferred to the capacities of Krasnoyarsk CHPP-2, as stated in the city»s heat supply scheme.
Also, the first boiler at the plant was repaired the day before. Equipment testing is scheduled for today. This boiler is being prepared as a backup in case of cold weather or unforeseen situations, SGC explained.
As NGS24.RU reported this week, in January a boiler at EVRZ failed, causing residents of at least one building in Svobodny to complain about cold and even ice in apartments. Home temperatures were no higher than +11°C (52°F). Similar boiler problems occurred in December.
In 2025, the plant«s capacity was reduced by 80% by shutting down four of five boilers. Looking ahead, in 2026, consumers of the EVRZ boiler house are to be transferred to heat from CHPP-2. The heat supply scheme for Krasnoyarsk states that this will happen if an agreement is reached with the owner. Plans for this existed earlier but were postponed due to the plant»s contracts with the Ministry of Defense, said former mayor Vladislav Loginov.
In autumn 2025, EVRZ shares were sold at an extremely low price.
