In memory of the 82nd anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the fascist blockade, the Lakhta Center tower will light up with a special illumination on the evening of January 27, creating the image of an Eternal Flame.

Memorial ceremonies and an artillery salute mark the day of remembrance for the lifting of the Leningrad blockade.

The lighting will reproduce the colors of the Leningrad Victory ribbon and depict flames. On this day, memorial events are taking place in St. Petersburg and across Russia.

Flower-laying ceremonies took place at the Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetery and at the military-historical complex «Nevsky Pyatachok». They were attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Governor of St. Petersburg, and the Governor of Leningrad Region.

The day will conclude with an artillery salute: at 21:00 on the beach of the Peter and Paul Fortress, 30 salvos will thunder, accompanied by more than a thousand fireworks.
