In a 2018 email titled «Brad Pitt spending time with MIT professor who is a rock star,» the actor«s friendship with Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor Neri Oxman was described. The email referenced a media article stating that Pitt and Oxman bonded over a shared interest in architecture.

MIT Media Lab director Joichi Ito resigned and apologized for his engagement with Epstein.

Kahn also sent Epstein another article suggesting a romance between Pitt and Oxman. The material referred to this as the «Amal effect»—a hint that older stars seek partners with a combination of beauty, intelligence, and professional achievements. In the article, Pitt was described as a longtime friend of George Clooney.

Epstein«s ties to MIT and personally to Neri Oxman have previously caused scandal. As reported by media, the institute»s laboratory received about $800,000 in funding from him. Additionally, Oxman, then a professor in the Mediated Matter group, gifted Epstein a large 3D-printed marble piece after he donated $125,000 to her design laboratory.

After the story became public, Oxman stated that she met Epstein only once and was assured that he was an approved donor seeking redemption. Laboratory director Joichi Ito resigned, apologizing for involving Epstein. Oxman also expressed regret over the received funds and apologized to students.

Epstein«s documents contain other references to Pitt, including an entry from an acquaintance describing the actor as »good-looking.« Also found was an invitation to a screening of Pitt»s film «World War Z» in 2013. However, there is no indication that Pitt was connected to Epstein or aware of his crimes.
