Fog is about to descend on Moscow and the Moscow region, with visibility dropping to 100-500 meters in places. The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MChS) of the Moscow Region and the Center for Traffic Organization (TsODD) have issued warnings. Frost is also expected in the area, with conditions persisting until 1 PM.

TsODD is urging drivers to be attentive, maintain safe distances and speed limits, avoid sudden maneuvers, and not use phones while driving. Along with low beams, fog lights should be turned on.

Auto expert Temur Abdullayev previously explained that dense fog is particularly dangerous on open highways where drivers may speed up. He noted that if the road is slippery and visibility is 200 meters or less, the risk of traffic accidents increases.

In addition to fog, Moscow and the region are facing freezing temperatures today. Meteorologist Tatyana Pozdnyakova reported on social media that last night was the coldest of the winter in the capital. At VDNKh in Moscow, temperatures fell to minus 17°C (1°F), while in New Moscow they dropped to minus 23°C (-9°F).
