Emergency service personnel, including police and Rosgvardiya (Russian National Guard), have cordoned off the area around School No. 8 in the KSK area of Chita. A witness reported this to a Chita.Ru correspondent on January 20.

The school is located in the 5th microdistrict of the settlement. Vehicles from the Russian National Guard, police, fire department, and ambulance are visible at the scene. The road in front of the school has been blocked, and children have been evacuated to neighboring School No. 6.

Children were evacuated to School No. 6 as a precaution while the situation is assessed.

The press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry (EMERCOM) directorate for Zabaykalsky Krai recommended that the Chita.Ru correspondent contact law enforcement agencies for comment. The press service of the regional Russian National Guard management promised to comment later, while Chita.Ru also sought information from the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) press service.
