Emergency Building on Pokrovskaya to Be Sold at Auction

The building, hidden for many years by a false facade, is planned to be put up for auction in 2026. All owners have agreed to the voluntary sale of the property.

The property at 44 Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street will be sold at an auction scheduled for 2026. This decision is due to the emergency condition of the house, which has been covered by a decorative facade in the center of Nizhny Novgorod for several years. According to information from the regional ministry of property and land relations, all owners have agreed to transfer the building for sale.

The new owner will be required to carry out reconstruction, with all work preserving the historical appearance of the building. The building itself does not have the status of an architectural monument but is recognized as a valuable urban-forming object.

The house is located within the historical boundaries of «Old Nizhny Novgorod» and is in the protected zone of the neighboring monument—«The Estate of I. Y. Ravkind.» Previously in the Nizhny Novgorod region, other historical objects have been put up for auction—the House of Merchant Bashkirov and the Estate of the Obolenskys. Local authorities hope to attract investors to restore these architectural monuments.
