On the night of February 5, the Russian Emergency Situations Warning System (RSChS) issued a drone threat warning for Volgograd and the region, which was sent to residents« mobile phones. The text of the message read: «Attention! A DRONE THREAT has been declared in the Volgograd Region. Avoid open areas of streets. Do not approach windows. Phone: 112.»
Earlier, the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) imposed temporary restrictions on takeoffs and landings at Volgograd Airport, leading to its closure. No flight delays were reported at the time of publication.
The previous day, February 4, a drone threat had already been declared in the region, causing delays for three flights on the Moscow–Volgograd route. Governor Andrey Bocharov said that an attack by unmanned aerial vehicles on industrial infrastructure facilities in southern Volgograd had been repelled. No casualties were reported. At one city school, children were moved to a safe location during the threat, and emergency services conducted searches for possible drone debris.
