Drivee Reports New Year Holiday Trends in Sochi
Some Drivee passengers celebrated the New Year while in transit during the holidays.
Drivee, a Russian taxi booking service, analyzed user activity during the winter holidays from December 31 to January 12. The data revealed changes in transportation habits among Sochi residents, from ringing in the New Year during a ride to record mileage over the festive period.
For some users, the celebration literally happened on the road. According to Drivee data, in Sochi, three passengers welcomed the year 2026 in a taxi, with that many rides occurring during the peak interval of New Year«s Eve from 11:50 PM on December 31 to 12:15 AM on January 1. Nationwide, this number reached 240 users.
In total, during the holiday period from December 31 to January 12, Drivee users in the city covered over 850,000 kilometers. The highest number of orders was on January 1. This day saw the main flow of trips, with some users returning home after celebrations, while others set out to congratulate friends and relatives.
On average, a trip in the city during this period took 15 minutes. The record ride was 80 kilometers long and lasted almost an hour and a half.
Service analysts note that trip scenarios during the holidays traditionally shifted from business to entertainment. Thus, the top popular destinations included shopping and entertainment centers, casinos, a ski resort, and the airport—many used the long weekend for tourist trips.
