Dense January Fog Envelops Volgograd, Residents Can Go Hatless

It has warmed up sharply in Volgograd. Following the temperature rise, fog has descended on the city.

Moisture condensed in the atmosphere is eating away at the snow that fell during the winter. Dense fog envelops tree branches, covering them with a silvery glaze. Barely visible water droplets settle on cooling car windows, hiding the interior better than any window tinting. By morning, the water will turn to ice, giving romantics the chance to enjoy nature«s wonderful patterns while forcing drivers to spend a few extra minutes clearing ice from their windows and mirrors.

The reason for the sharp temperature change is a cyclone passing over the Volgograd region. It was captured from above by weather satellites. According to weather forecasters, such weather—when one can comfortably go without a hat—will linger in Volgograd and the region for several more days. Then the city will again be hit by severe frosts.

For now, however, one can wander the streets, enjoying the warm weather and the mystical atmosphere of an evening Volgograd shrouded in fog.
